Transitioning to Green Careers

by ecomotown on March 23, 2010

At Morristown Green Drinks a few weeks ago, I met an enthusiastic woman, Kerry Mowry. Kerry and I talked a little about the blog and then she told me about her work on the hospital’s GREEN TEAM (more on that later, I hope). She also told me about the new role she’s taken on as director of marketing for a new nonprofit, Transitioning to Green Foundation.

Transitioning to Green helps people who are out of work, or looking for a career change, jumpstart their green careers. They teach a 3-month certificate program, in conjunction with Fairleigh Dickinson University, designed to help you advance in the new realm of sustainable business. The program qualifies for the Workforce Investment Act Training Grant program through the NJ Department of Labor, so those who are unemployed may qualify for grants for the program’s $4,000 tuition.

Want to learn more about the program before you commit? Attend one of their Training Resource Meetings this week. There will be two tomorrow, March 24 at 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. and 12 – 3 p.m, both at FDU’s campus in Madison/Florham Park. The first class begins April 5, and they will have new sessions starting monthly.
