This weekend I don’t have any plans! It’s amazing how much that excites me. I’m taking this opportunity to visit the Urban Farm at Lafayette for a Worm Composting class. For those that aren’t familiar, the Urban Farm at Lafayette is an initiative of Grow It Green Morristown, an organization helping to build community in Morristown through a community garden and a teaching farm (among many other wonderful things).
Back to the worms, though. I have a compost, but we don’t use worms right now, so I’m curious to see what kind of benefit they have and whether or not they’ll work for us. The vermicomposting class, taking place on Sunday, June at 4 p.m., is free and open to the public, but you must RSVP to info@growitgreenmorristown.org in advance. The farm is located at 31 Hazel Street, and you should drive around to the back of the school.
While I’m there, I’ll be donating some rubber bands to the cause. I’ve been collecting them for no particular reason, other than the fact that I don’t want to throw them away. I’m glad they’re able to go toward putting together bunches of leafy greens.
Here’s a list of things they need:
• rubber bands (harvesting green bunches like kale)
• plastic berry containers from the market
• clean produce/ bread bags
They also need a picnic table still if you know of one lurking about.
In addition, it may not be too late for their Potluck Supper, happening tomorrow night. I’m just going to paste this event right in here:

I’m going to this too! I’ll fill you in on bike stuff when we are done learning about worms. I also was going to the potluck, but after I rsvp’d, I found out it was cancelled. They are having a question/answer night at the Early Street garden instead.
