Morristown Farmers’ Market Benefits Soup Kitchen

by ecomotown on June 26, 2010

I missed the farmers’ market last week, sadly, but will have ample time tomorrow to go down sometime between 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.  (For those who don’t know, it’s in the parking lot behind The Grasshopper, George & Martha’s and Dunkin’ Donuts.)

I just learned that five farmers and one baker will now be donating unsold produce and goods to the Community Soup Kitchen at the close of each farmers’ market.  What a great idea!  Not only that, but shoppers at the market can buy extra produce or goods and donate it to the Community Soup Kitchen collection.  You can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll be doing just that tomorrow!

Bakers Bounty of Linden has joined five New Jersey farms in this venture. The farms are ER & Son Organic Farm of Monroe Township, Grossman Farm of Chesterfield, Michisk Farm of Flemington, Pittstown Fruit Farm of Union, and Union Hill Farm of Denville.  Alstede Farms also donates to the Community Soup Kitchen regularly.
